How to Use the Emotional Guidance Scale for Emotional Alchemy
Based on the Teachings of Abraham Hicks
At Metta Wellness, we believe that emotional awareness is the cornerstone of transformation. The Emotional Guidance Scale, created by Jerry & Esther Hicks offers a profound roadmap to help us understand, navigate, and elevate our emotional states. Rather than labeling emotions as “good” or “bad,” this scale views each feeling as part of a continuum—from the densest vibrations like fear and despair to the highest like joy and love.
Why This Scale Matters
Emotions are not random. They are vibrational indicators—signals that tell us whether our current thoughts and beliefs are in harmony with our true essence. When we feel good, we’re in alignment. When we feel heavy or stuck, it’s a call to realign. The Emotional Guidance Scale allows us to pinpoint where we are emotionally and, more importantly, how to move up the scale with compassion and intention.
Understanding the Levels
The scale consists of 22 emotional states, ranging from the highest vibrational frequencies (such as Joy, Appreciation Empowerment, Love) at the top, to the lowest (Fear, Grief, Powerlessness) at the bottom. Emotions like frustration, doubt, jealousy, and anger are not “bad”; they are simply lower on the scale—and often serve as stepping stones to move upward.
For example, someone feeling depressed (near the bottom) may not leap directly to joy. But moving to anger or blame—though still uncomfortable—can actually be a vibrational improvement and a vital part of emotional healing. This perspective honors the emotional journey as a layered process rather than a forced shift into positivity.
How to Work with the Scale
Check in Daily
Take a moment to ask yourself: Where am I on the emotional scale right now? Identify your current state without judgment.Accept Where You Are
Acknowledge your emotion as valid. This is not about bypassing your feelings—it’s about understanding them as messengers.Reach for the Next Best Feeling
Instead of jumping to the top of the scale, aim for the next emotion that feels slightly better. If you’re in despair, reaching for anger may be a sign of movement. If you’re frustrated, hopefulness may be within reach.Use Journaling or Affirmations
Write down the emotion you’re feeling and the one just above it. Use prompts or affirmations to gently guide your thoughts toward that higher state. For example:
“I am open to the idea that things can shift.”
“It’s okay to feel frustrated. I am willing to find relief.”Track Your Progress
Keep a simple log of where you are on the scale over a week or month. You’ll begin to notice patterns and what helps you move upward.
A Tool for Inner Empowerment
The Emotional Guidance Scale is more than a list—it's a compass for emotional empowerment. At Metta Wellness, we invite you to use it not just in moments of struggle, but as a daily tool to nurture emotional intelligence, self-compassion, and alignment with your true self. Over time, as you become more attuned to your emotional guidance, you’ll naturally gravitate toward higher vibrations—leading to greater clarity, peace, and purpose.
